In addition to candles, the company also sells fragrance oils and something called “melts” that function similarly to candles that have multiple layers of differing scents. Most, if not all of the products sold by Swan Creek use soybean wax, an increasingly popular and safer alternative used by companies like Koji Candles that use organic soy wax.

A distinctive feature of Swan Creek is the candle holders, referred to as jars. You’ll find glass jars in several different sizes and even special occasion jars for holidays like Halloween or with messages like “Happy Birthday to you” and “best wishes”. Each of these candles are available in six different scents that include names like pumpkin vanilla, gingerbread, and sweet cinnamon cream. Interestingly, many of the jars are designed to be reusable, and the company sells containers of candle refill wax for this very purpose.
Speaking of scents, Swan Creek candles provide a vast collection of different ones to choose from. Perusing the clean and contemporary jar collection, for example, you’ll find over twenty different scents available for purchase. A quick Google search will show plenty of buyers praising how nice the company’s candles. Regardless of which scent you choose, each one costs the same as the prices are based on the sizes and style of the candle you’re interested in purchasing. You should also know that some candles like those that come in the Southern Charm Jars have less than stellar burn times.
The problem with having so many scents available is that Swan Creek does not provide an easy means of actually smelling them. The company’s products are primarily sold via their website so you’ll have to go by reviews and whatever scents generally appeal to you if you’re considering buying one unless you live in or near one of the five cities where the company has an outlet store. Keep in mind that if you do buy one, you may not get the attractive jar that caught your eye since the company reserves the right to swap it out for something similar if it happens to be out of stock. However, you do have the option of choosing not to accept this should such a situation arise.
If you’re okay with not being able to smell what you’re buying, or have the time to try and find Swan Creek candles in a store, they might be worth your time. Unlike other brands, you’ll find information on wholesale purchases right on the company website.

My Two Scents
Swan Creek Candle Company is one of the few that outright states the type of wax used in their candles on their website as soon as you open it, boldly proclaiming their use of “Clean Burning, Lead Free, Intensely Fragrant American Soybean Wax Candles”. With its clean burning wax, a large assortment of well-regarded scents, and ease in purchasing wholesale, Swan Creek seemingly provides all of the essential components to provide a great candle.
There are however a few items that hold Swan Creek candles back. For starters, unlike other competitors like Koji that have manufactured their candles to provide long burn times, Swan Creek candles may burn unusually fast despite using soy wax. What’s more, the bulk of their candles are sold via their website instead of through traditional brick and mortar stores, where you can smell one of the candles yourself.
